‘A fitting tribute’
 

A few Soldiers attending the Aviation Captains Career Course here took time out of their busy schedules Aug. 26 to help hundreds of Enterprise High School students ring in the new school year right and honor the lives of eight students killed during a March 1, 2007, tornado during the Barnyard Olympics at Johnny Henderson Park.

Here’s the scenario:

At 8 a.m., Cairns Army Airfield weather reported a massive tornado will hit the Fort Rucker community sometime between 1 and 3 p.m. The Installation Operations Center predicts widespread electrical outages, water contamination and structural damage. The command has instructed community members to execute their emergency preparedness plans.
